Activity: Horseriding

My two young girls are passionate horseriders. They are 13 years old and 11 years old. I often ride with them - Saturdays and Wednesdays during school time and during holidays. We all wear fluorescent jackets to be visible, not only motorists, but also hunters. My children would like to have some independence and fend for themselves, but I'm afraid to allow them to do it. Why am I scared? I'm afraid that the hunters do not respect the rules with respect to shooting distances near roads and houses.

Last weekend, while my daughter was training her mare in the paddock, I heard gunshots so close that they seemed to be shot in the paddock itself. For fear of an accident, I asked my daughter to stop her training and go inside. It is this fear of being targeted which forces us to use the roads, which makes us take risks with dangerous drivers. It's not fair, we should have the right to use rural roads around our homes, without putting our lives in danger.
