Incident: Dangerous behaviour
Activity: Other

Shortly after settling at the cottage near Morzine (September / October 2015), I went down to the garage (which is across the garden on the other side of the road) on a Sunday afternoon and
I noticed a car, a Peugeot 306 or similar, that slowed down. Crossing the road, I looked at the car to see why it had slowed down, and I saw a man shoot a gun through the window and shoot a bullet up the hill towards my garden. He then accelerated before I could understand what had happened and I went back into the house through the garden to check that all our cats were fine, we had 4. I saw the neighbour's cat sitting in the field a little earlier and our cats were also in the garden.

For 3 years, I have not seen other animals than domestic cats in our garden or in the field at this time of the day; I can only conclude that he shot at a cat.

I could not report the registration number or the mark of the car because everything happened so fast so I did not complain.

There is a forest 100m behind our house but this man fired towards our garden, between our house and a neighbouring house further down the hill, through the window of a car. This shows how hunters do not realise the danger of firing a weapon.

Otherwise, at worst, he deliberately shot at a pet.
